Hangover Series #2

The Minor Suspects:

Dehydration and Ethanal Formation

In the earlier post, we learned about the process undergone after consuming alcohol.

Consuming alcohol will reduce the release of antidiuretic hormone (ADH), increasing urination. This is also known as alcohol-induced dehydration, which has been suggested as a minor factor of a hangover.

On top of that, the production of Ethanal or acetaldehyde comes with toxic effects, leading to hangover symptoms. Nevertheless, the correlation between its concentration and hangover severity is not significant.
